Sometimes what you really need is a good distraction. Especially these days, with everything going on, it’s important to take your mind off of it for a little while and focus on something you love. If something you love is fashion, then this is the post for you. As your Denver photographer, we see a lot of new fashion and keep up on what is in and out. Every year brings about new trends and new things to add to your wardrobe, and 2020 is no different. Not sure what’s topping the trend charts this season? Here are a few of the big winners.
Knitted Dresses
This late 90s, early 00s trend is making its way back into the zeitgeist with an updated look and a modernized feel. These aren’t your mom’s ribbed sweater dresses. They’ve been adjusted and upgraded to fit with a range of other pieces and to be styled however you might like it. Plus, they’re comfy as heck, and the material is perfect for these slightly warmer, but still kind of chilly temperatures.
Skirts with Slits
Slip skirts have been all the rage for some time now, and adding a slit to the mix is a natural progression of this particular trend. It adds a little more mobility and a little extra flair. You can find them in all styles and lengths, so it’s easy to find a skirt from this trend that fits in easily with the rest of your wardrobe.
Crochet Tops
Like the knitted dresses, crochet tops and pieces are in style. A slightly chunkier, funkier take on a knit-style clothing item, crochet tops offer a wide range of styles, patterns, and colors. These are great for a boho-chic look or something a little more laid back. With the wide range of applications of the crochet technique in clothing creation, there is tremendous flexibility to explore. On the whole, it’s a little harder to dress a crochet top up, though, so maybe save them for your less formal outfits and events.
Sheer Layers
Sheer fabrics are sweeping the fashion world from tops to wear over cropped tops or bralettes to pieces composed of a number of layers of sheer fabric in differing colors to produce a truly unmatched effect. What’s impressive about sheer fabric is the way it can create both colorscapes and architectural design that you can’t get with other fabric choices. It’s soft and stunning all at once, and can be utilized in so many different ways.
Sequins
Look, who doesn’t love a little sparkle and shimmer? Sequins have been sneaking back into wardrobes for a couple of years now, but the subtlety is taking a backseat this spring. Instead of sequin accents, dive into full-sequined jackets, dresses, tops, and even pants. If there’s a clothing item you love, chances are you can find it in a sequined-version. For the days when you really want to shine your brightest, reach for these pieces in your closet.
Whatever edges of the fashion world you tend to gravitate toward, there’s something on this year’s trend list to give a try. And if you’ve been rocking the same “uniform” style for several years, the trends making their way onto the scene this spring are a reminder that we can always refresh and inspire ourselves with something totally new.
