Perfect Skin Care Tips for Senior Pics

Monty Nuss

With summer around the corner, it’s officially senior pictures season again! Juniors, we know you’re getting your sessions booked and starting to plan out your looks for the shoot. If you’re worried about your skin looking its best on the big day, here are our tips to keep your skin glowing and smooth before, during, and after your senior photo shoot!

Consistent Skin Care

The first, and most important tip we can give is to be consistent about your skincare. We know that schedules get crazy and some nights, the idea of washing your face before bed seems like the very last thing you want to do. But it’s worth the few minutes of extra effort to keep your skin in tip-top condition.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

If you’ve lived in Colorado for any amount of time, you know the drill. This state is beautiful, but it is dry. That makes moisturizing more important than ever, especially if you’re going for that natural glow look in your senior photos. Moisturize in the morning and at night, and stick with a moisturizer you know interacts well with your skin.

SPF is Your BFF

Protecting your skin against the harmful effects of the sun is important on a number of levels, but slathering on a sunscreen formulated specifically for the face, every day, is another way to keep your skin perfect, smooth, and glowing when it comes time to get in front of the camera. We always recommend finding a separate sunscreen for your face, because the formula here matters. Using body sunscreen on your face can lead to clogged pores or rashes, simply because the skin on your face is more sensitive than the rest. Plus, face-formulates sunscreens often have other moisturizing and nourishing ingredients that are a great addition to your overall skincare routine, anyway.

Don’t Switch It Up

Look, the world of skincare is wild. There are millions of choices out there, and they all do very different things for different skin types and in different situations. We get the urge to try new things, to sample different crazes and fads, but if your photoshoot is around the corner, we don’t recommend it. Sticking to your tried and true products is a much better option when your photo session is impending. New products have a much greater chance of disrupting your skin’s balance and causing breakouts, rashes, dry spots, and more. None of those things are impossible to overcome for your photos, but if you want to feel your glowiest when you step in front of the camera, we recommend sticking with what you know, and saving the skincare experimentation for later!

Utilizing these tips, your skin should be glowing in no time. When you feel good in your own skin, it’s so much easier to feel confident when you step in front of the camera and own your beauty. We believe everyone deserves that confident feeling, and the resulting pride when you see the final product. If you haven’t booked your senior photo session yet, make sure to do so soon, our spots are filling up fast!
