With the holidays just a few weeks away, it’s the perfect time to wrap up your shopping! As your Denver photographers, we have some great shutterbug gift ideas that are a little more affordable than a new lens or a new camera altogether, consider these options.
Personalized Camera Strap
Camera straps are a DSLR lover’s best friend, and a necessity for any photographer who wants to travel with their camera (aka any photographer, really). This year, take that gift idea up a notch with a nice leather camera strap personalized with their name, initials, or a phrase they live by. Trust us, they’ll love it.
Subscription to Editing Software
We say it all the time, and we will never stop saying it. A large part of a photographer’s life is editing the images we take. It’s all color balancing and minor adjustments that culminate in the style that you often see as a marker of a particular photographer’s work. In order to do this editing well, all photographers rely on editing software. Adobe Lightroom is one of the most popular (and affordable) options out there. If your favorite shutterbug doesn’t have a subscription yet, gifting them one may make you their favorite person. If they do, gifting them a year’s worth of the costs is a great idea.
Coffee Table Book
Coffee table books are more accessible than ever these days. If you want to truly touch the heart of your favorite photographer, take a collection of their photos and have a coffee table book of their very own work made. If you go this route, make sure you splurge a little on quality, and maybe have a tissue or two on hand for when they open it.
Ring Light
There are a number of lights that come in handy for photographers, but for those interested in portraiture work or lighting in small spaces that packs a real punch, a ring light is a must have. You can get them in a variety of sizes and quality, so use your best judgement based on the needs of the person you’re gifting it to. If you’re not sure what they need, ask another photographer friend for a little advice.
Remote Shutter
Being able to control the camera remotely is a fun bonus to have for a lot of photographers. It lets them get different angles, adjust something last second, or hold a light in a specific position without compromising the shot. It also gives you a good excuse to insist on your photographer friend being in some photos, for once!
Lens Bag
If the photography-inclined on your holiday shopping list has been slowly collecting more lenses for their kit, a lens back with padded compartments is a great idea. There are plenty of options these days that are both protective and stylish, so finding one that fits the personality of your shutterbug is far simpler than it once was.
There are so many ways to gift the shutterbugs in your life this holiday season, but the most important thing is to add a little extra thought. A lot of us are all about capturing emotion because the depth of moments means so much to us. The fact that you’re thinking about and supporting their creative endeavors will go a long way. What are you gifting your photographer friends and family this year?
